From 0 to 500 in 10 Years: Ubilabs’ Anniversary

It’s already been 10 years since the founding of Ubilabs – time for a birthday party! On March 24th, 2017 Ubilabs invited friends, customers, and partners to celebrate this special occasion at Hamburg’s Bunker.

10 years can change a lot, but seeing it in black and white makes it even more real. Since the early days of Ubilabs, the figures have changed...

from 1 to 3 (offices),
from 4 to 40 (employees),
from 0 to 500 (customers).

With 500 customers, we executed a wide variety of projects. What did these projects have in common though? Our motto, “Map up your business”, which all our efforts revolve around, in great things as in small.

For our project with Miniatur Wunderland, we had to scale down – for a miniature Street View Trek of the model railroad world. Wrapping our heads around how to create 360° panoramic views of sceneries this small was a memorable challenge. After developing camera equipment customized to the requirements on track and shooting the panoramic views, we created the Street View Trek that can be accessed via a Miniatur Wunderland microsite and Street View on Google Maps.

For our project with Boschung the challenge was on a much larger scale – it revolved around the weather. The Swiss company carries out operations around the world and uses special vehicles and electronic systems to clear surfaces such as runways and roads. The project’s complex requirements called for our whole service portfolio. We developed the mobile app RWIS (Road Weather Information System) that visualizes weather data and information on road conditions on an interactive Google Map and helps ensure the targeted use of snowplows, street cleaners, and de-icers.

As the saying goes: Time flies when you’re having fun. We proudly look back at the past 10 years and thank all of our guests for celebrating our achievements with us during the wonderful evening at the Bunker.
