Already in the year 2007 it was possible to follow all the stages of the Tour de France live. This was made possible by the live-ticker by Ubilabs.
“Tour de France – Live Tracker” displays the performance data of the cyclists on an interactive map. During the stages, the positions of individual drivers by markers on the map are displayed and updated every second. Also information about speed, cadence and heart rate frequency of the driver is available.
Styled maps by Google
As one of the first we developed individual map styles with the feature "Styled maps" of the Google Maps API for this project. The route is schematized so the map gets less confusing. Functions among others are:
live broadcast during the tour
current positions of selected drivers
special interface for mobile devices
reduced map style for a better overview
