Tour de France 2009

Live Tracker:

Show current positions of race leaders as well as live data and twitter news in real time on Google Maps.

Ubilabs displays live on the Internet where different riders are at the very moment. Both the actual stage and the exact positions of various riders are displayed on interactive maps and satellite images. The positions are shown on the well-known Google Maps.

Beside the position of the riders even their actual speed, their pulse beat, their step frequency or their performance is transmitted.

The Tour-Tracker could be launched just in time for the beginning of the tour. The actual stage is displayed every day. After the start of each stage all the riders equipped with a tracking technology are shown on the website and can be followed throughout the stage.

And therefor not only passionate cycling fans will experience the Tour de France like never before: with their fingers on an interactive map.

The massive public interest that has been aroused so far is a proof for the success of the collaborative work between SRM and Ubilabs. More and more websites are linked with the tour-tracker-site. With great joy it has been recognised that even active riders refer to it on their websites.

This Google Maps mashup will let you track the stage that is currently underway, and follow GPS-tracked cyclists that are deep in the race.. in real-time! See their exact location, as well heart rate, cadence, speed and power. Cool team jersey map markers indicate the T-Mobile, Gerolsteiner, Discovery Channel, CSC, Saunier Duval and Liquigasracer cyclists on the map. This mashup even makes use of the Twitter API for constant updates (See Live Ticker)! This is a great way to keep up with the race through a truly interactive Google Maps interface! Our friends over at Ubilabs have put together a new version of their Tour de France Live Tracker application. Features include improved performance of the map interface and a neat Streetview implementation showing the riders’ POV. You can follow select riders from Teams such as Milram, Columbia, Gerolsteiner and CSC/Saxo Bank. (via PSFK.com)
